The climate case Saúl vs. RWE

Saúl, a farmer and mountain guide in the Peruvian Andes, sees his life and that of his family and thousands of people in his village threatened by climate change, as the melting water from the nearby glacier will flood everything beyond. He has filed a lawsuit against the German energy company RWE, holding it responsible for its part in causing climate-related damage. The decision will be made in April 2025 by the Court of Appeal in Hamm, Germany, and could set an essential precedent for allowing individuals to hold corporations responsible for climate change and related damage.
